Roll fresh colors, keep the ones you like, and copy their codes in a click.

Open the tool Random Color Generator

To generate a random color, open the random color generator and press the spacebar or the Generate button. Each result shows its hex code, RGB values and the nearest color name, ready to copy.

Lock the colors you want to keep

A random set rarely lands perfectly on the first try. Lock any color you like with its lock icon, then generate again. The locked colors stay put while the rest reroll, so you can build toward a set you are happy with instead of starting over each time.

Vivid mode

Plain random colors are drawn across the whole range, which sometimes gives muted or washed-out results. Turn on vivid mode to bias the generator toward brighter, more saturated colors. It is useful when you want bold accents or a more energetic set.

When random is the right tool

Random colors are great for sparking ideas, filling placeholder data, picking arbitrary tags or labels, or just breaking out of a rut when every color you try looks the same. There is no wrong answer, so it is a low-pressure way to find something fresh.

When you want a coordinated set rather than independent picks, the palette generator builds harmonised palettes you can shuffle and lock in the same way. And once you have a color you like, the color name finder tells you what to call it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I generate a random color?
Press the spacebar or the Generate button. A fresh set appears, each with its hex code, RGB values and nearest name.
Can I keep a color while rerolling the rest?
Yes. Lock any color you like, then generate again. Locked colors stay while the others change.
What is vivid mode for?
Vivid mode biases the results toward brighter, more saturated colors, which helps when the plain random set looks washed out.
